Ghana’s national football team is finalizing preparations for their upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, with the squad announcement expected by the end of the week.
Henry Asante Twum, the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) communications director, confirmed that all necessary procedures for releasing the squad have been completed.
“Before we release the squad, normally there is a process that we go through,” Twum explained. “When the coach finalizes his squad, we have to inform the players’ clubs. After that, he has to defend it at the management committee level. Once these steps are completed, if nothing changes, we proceed with the announcement. Luckily, we have exhausted all these processes, and we are sure that by the close of this week, he will announce the team.”
Ghana is competing in Group I of the CAF qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Mali, Madagascar, Central African Republic, Comoros, and Chad. The group winner will secure direct qualification for the tournament, while the runner-up could still have a chance through the inter-confederation play-offs.
The upcoming fixtures are crucial for Ghana’s World Cup hopes, as the Black Stars aim to improve their standing and strengthen their chances of securing a place in the 2026 tournament.
