Former Ghana centre-back Samuel Osei Kuffour has opened up on his sole regret about not being able to win the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) title with the Black Stars.
Kuffour who was known for his physical power, is best remembered for his time with Bayern Munich, whom he represented for over a decade, winning a total of 14 trophies, and playing in nearly 250 official matches.
In spite of these achievements, the former Torino and AS Roma guardsman failed to win an AFCON trophy with the Black Stars.
Kuffour appeared with the Ghana national team in the 2006 World Cup, as well as in five Africa Cup of Nations (from 1993 to 2006).
“Some of us, including me, never got the chance to win the AFCON. It kills me everyday because there is nothing that I can show to my children. It’s a very difficult tournament to play because we know each other, the strength, the technique and the understanding of the game is always the same. You can never underrate Ghana, Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Nigeria whenever they play each other,” he stated in an interview.
