Ghana’s U15 national boys’ team fell short of a place in the final of the ongoing tournament after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Tanzania in the semifinals on Friday at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The young Tanzanian side got off to a flying start, netting the only goal of the game within the opening minute. Despite dominating possession and pushing for an equalizer, Ghana could not break through a well-organized Tanzanian defense.
The match, which was contested over two halves of 20 minutes each, proved to be a tactical battle, with both sides creating chances. However, it was the East African team’s early strike that ultimately proved decisive.
Ghana had cruised through the group stage with a flawless record, winning all three of their games and raising hopes of reaching the final. But their campaign hit a roadblock at the penultimate hurdle, leaving the young team disappointed.
Now, the focus shifts to the third-place playoff where Ghana will have the opportunity to end their campaign on a high and secure a bronze medal. Coaches and players alike will be looking to regroup and finish with a strong performance in their final match.
